Happy & Healthy Pets Are Our Businesses

At Bark Avenue Bed and Breakfast, your pet is a guest at our home. We will treat your pet the same way we treat our pets. We also expect your pet to behave accordingly. Each pet has a choice of wheather or not to play with others. We are equipped to accommodate their wishes.

We are not equipped to take Aggressive Pet’s, whether they are aggressive only to other pets or to people. We are not able to accept any pets with contagious illness, non immunized pets, or pets that are not able to be alone in our home in a closed full size room with the television or stereo playing while we work with other pets.

Personalized service
We keep our boarding facility small because we want to provide personalized service for your pet.

A Clean Environment
We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our home and our entire facility. Our rooms and kennels are cleaned out every day. We use the same disinfecting pet friendly products that are used by veterinarians and hospitals to prevent the spread of all kinds of contagious diseases. Each area is thoroughly sanitized after a pet checks out and before a new guest arrives.

We also have some of the strictest health and immunization requirements.

Large pet? Small pet? We've got you covered.
A lot of smaller pets don't like to play with big pets. Bark Avenue offers separate play groups. Some Pet’s are “anti-social” and do not care to play with others at all. We try and accommodate all preferences, this way every pet can have a pleasant experience.

In a typical situation, the off-leash area will not have more than 5 dogs and one human (even pet’s must be supervised) at any given time. In most cases, it will be a lot lower.

Play groups are only for socialized pets, if your pet is not happy with others or does not wish to play in a group, he or she can use the off leash area alone.

Dog Fights
Dog owners know that some dogs don't get along. It's natural.

You don't have to worry about dog fights at Bark Avenue. We pair up our guests with other guests who are compatible. If we see that two dogs don't like each other, then they will be separated and can play in separate pens or at separate times.

Also, if you don't want your pet to be off-leash at all during their stay at Bark Avenue, that is fine too. We will gladly give your dog exercise while on-leash. We can play Frisbee or fetch without other dogs around.

Flat Rate Pricing
There are some dog kennels that are priced lower than Bark Avenue, and some kennels are priced much higher. Don't be fooled! You might find a cheaper alternative but most of those kennels charge extra for play time, walks, food and medications. At Bark Avenue, you pay one flat rate which includes all of your pet’s needs.

Late Check-Out Charges
You may pick up or drop off your pet between the hours of 7:00AM and 8:30PM. Since this is our family home, THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS to this timeframe. We are not open or Sunday’s, but Sunday pick up is available with a specified time and for a charge of $5.00. We charge for each overnight stay. If your dog gets picked up on Tuesday at 8:30 AM or at 7:00 PM, it's the same price.

Donations and Public Service
When your pets stay at Bark Avenue, a portion of every dollar you spend is going to help disadvantaged pets. We have taught to the children at the Watson Branch of Livingston Parish Library, Classes at Live Oak Elementary, and we do volunteer grooming for several area animal rescue programs and Denham Springs Animal Control.

Security
We are committed to security. Our property is surrounded by a 6 foot high solid metal fence, and our off leash areas are enclosed by a fence within another fence which are 16 feet by 8 feet wide. So even if your little Houdini were able to escape the kennel or the off leash area, he or she is still safely enclosed by our 6 foot fences. Pet’s are supervised in all play time by group, and when they are in the off lead area’s we are able to see them from our windows.

Our innovative Bed & Breakfast offers your Pet an alternative to the customary “kennel” boarding. Your pet will spend his/her vacation with our family in a real home atmosphere. We offer Exercise, Pet Games, Toy’s, Music, Movies (pet related of course!), and Gourmet Homemade Treats (diet allowing). Your pet will also have it’s own space if they would prefer rest and relaxation. Your pet will not be systematically caged and/or left alone overnight as in most Boarding or Kennel operations.
